Ocean Power Technologies (OPT), founded in 1984, provides intelligent maritime solutions and services that enable safer, cleaner, and more productive ocean operations for defense and security, oil and gas, science and research, and offshore wind markets.

In 2015, OPT pivoted to focus on providing remote power and data solutions for maritime applications, leveraging renewable energy technologies.

Our flagship technology, the PowerBuoy® platform, generates clean and reliable electric power by harnessing renewable energy from ocean waves, offering power and real-time data communications for remote maritime and subsea applications. We also provide WAM-V® autonomous surface vessels (ASVs) and marine robotics services, delivering versatility for various marine operations.

In addition to our PowerBuoy® solutions, OPT has introduced Merrows™, which provides AI-capable seamless integration of Maritime Domain Awareness Systems across platforms, enhancing our commitment to intelligent, connected maritime infrastructure.

OPT’s headquarters is located in Monroe Township, New Jersey, with an additional office in Richmond, California, supporting our development, testing and engineering capabilities.
