OPT to Present at American Fisheries Society 2020 Annual Meeting
OPT has been confirmed to take part in next month’s American Fisheries Society (AFS) 2020 Annual Meeting.
Our VP, Global Business Development Dr. Philipp Stratmann will represent OPT on the panel “Using Autonomous Systems in Fisheries Management—What We Can Learn From the Past to Create a Sustainable Future” in a live session moderated by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Unmanned Maritime Systems Research & Development Coordinator Philip Hoffman.
“We are looking forward to speaking with the fisheries community about how our Surface Surveillance System can offer remote, autonomous, low- to zero-carbon monitoring,” says Dr. Stratmann. “OPT solutions can support Illegal, Unreported & Unregulated (IUU) prevention and enforcement efforts to reduce the millions of tonnes of fish lost every year, while our ability to deploy a multitude of sensors from our PowerBuoys® can also assist in monitoring ocean health.”
The AFS meeting will be virtual for this year’s edition and will take place entirely online across 10 days next month. For registration, preliminary scheduling, and other information about the September 14-25 event, visit afsannualmeeting.fisheries.org.
