Watch OPT’s PB3 PowerBuoy® Play a Key Role in SLAMR Defense Scenario
The Naval Postgraduate School’s (NPS) Sea Land Air Military Research (SLAMR) Initiative has released a new video scenario that incorporates OPT’s PB3 PowerBuoy® playing a key role as a forward deployed power and communications gateway.
In the clip, OPT’s autonomous power and data solution integrates into an offshore defense network comprised of a variety of airborne and marine assets, all communicating with onshore command via a wireless network hosted and powered by the PB3 PowerBuoy®.
“We’re extremely proud to be working with the Naval Postgraduate School to develop innovative maritime security solutions that have applications for everything from homeland security to offshore industries,” said Philipp Stratmann, President and CEO of Ocean Power Technologies. “NPS has a unique ability to bring complementary companies together to experiment and push boundaries.”
The NPS defense video scenario follows OPT’s work with the SLAMR Initiative. The Monterey, Calif.- based SLAMR program conducts interdisciplinary research in unmanned and robotic systems.
